Having that one person you can always go to. That one person who always knows what to say and how to make you feel better. For some that a parent, or a friend, but for me it's my brother. My brother Calvin is, with no thought about it, my best friend in this whole world. We've never had the "fighting phase" between siblings, from day one we've always gotten along and I couldn't be more thankful for that.
Ever since I was little he has always said to me "I smile because i'm your brother. I laugh because there's nothing you can do about it." I understood the quote at the time but I never understood the meaning behind it. I just thought he meant that were related and I can't change that but what his true meaning behind it was deeper to the fact that later in life when we both moved out and went our separate ways he would still be my brother no matter where we lived or what we grew up to do.
He is three years older than me, and with that, he has taught me so much in life. He has taught me to have patience with everyone and everything around me and to be honest with the way I feel towards anything that comes my way. Hes taught me all the basic things in life like being generous and loyal to the people you love. Although I could on and on about the lessons he has taught me, that would take to long but I really want to mention one more. It happens between almost every pair of siblings. The competition. Calvin and I have always had that competitive side towards each other. Like who can run faster or who can get the higher grade in a particular subject, and of course I won but who`s counting.

As the days go by and we`re both getting older it`s hard to think about him going to collage and not being home as much as he used to be. Of course I`ll have my parents around and their advice to help me along the way but without him at home things just won`t be the same. He does so much for me, and i`m talking even listens to my vent about what happened during my day at school or my Cheer Practice, and he does not even show the emotion of not caring. And I know I`m just rambling on about my brother and what he means to me, but when you think about that one person who knows everything about you and that person you share all your memories with, then you`ll understand where I`m coming from.
After reading this, don`t get me wrong. My parents are a big part of my life and a big part of who I am today. But so is my brother. He is my best friend and the person I spend most of my day with when my parents are working or out running errands. So to my brother, there`s nothing left to do but thank him, for being the person that he is.
